UST Cleanup Funds

The Underground Storage Tank Fund provides reimbursement for costs incurred during the cleanup of soil and groundwater contamination resulting from a release of petroleum from a commercial underground storage tank (UST). The Commercial Trust Fund has been established to reimburse tank owners, operators and landowners for costs associated with cleanups.

Commercial underground storage tanks include USTs containing petroleum products for resale, farm or residential motor fuel tanks with a capacity greater than 1,100 gallons, heating oil tanks greater than 1,100 gallons (unless they serve four or fewer households).

The Non-Commercial Trust Fund has been phased out by Session Law 2015-241 Section 14.16A.
