The N.C. Coastal Reserve has two internships for Summer 2023 at the Beaufort office.

Undergraduate Coastal Reserve Stewardship Internship - The intern will work out of the Reserve’s Beaufort Headquarters, located on Pivers Island, for 20 hours/week for 10 weeks between May 15 and July 21, 2023. The pay rate is $15/hour.
The part-time intern will assist the Stewardship staff at the Beaufort office with natural resources monitoring and management activities at the Rachel Carson Reserve, an island nature preserve. The intern will participate in stewardship activities including wild horse and invasive species monitoring, protected species monitoring and surveys, site maintenance, and other stewardship activities. Living Shoreline Communication Internship - The intern will work out of the Reserve’s Beaufort Headquarters, located on Pivers Island, for 40 hours/weeks for 10 weeks between May 22 and July 28, 2023. The pay rate is $15/hour.
The living shorelines communication intern will assist the Division of Coastal Management (DCM) in developing communication products targeting estuarine shoreline property owners. The intern will work collaboratively with DCM’s Estuarine Shoreline Workgroup and the Living Shorelines Steering Committee to finalize communication product design. The intern will work with Department of Environmental Quality’s Public Affairs staff to film and edit short videos on living shoreline topics. See complete details.
