The Environmental Management Commission (EMC) is accepting public comment on proposed rule changes that would codify discharge requirements for certain existing wastewater treatment plants in the Tar-Pamlico River Basin in the rules. The rules are part of a strategy designed to manage the inputs of nutrients into the basin that can cause fish kills, harmful algal blooms and other water quality impacts.

The Habitat and Water Quality Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on January 15, 2025.

The Shellfish/Crustacean Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on January 9, 2025.

The Southern Regional Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on January 8, 2025.

The Northern Regional Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on January 7, 2025.

The North Carolina Mining Commission will meet at 1 p.m. on November 18, 2024, in Raleigh.

The Marine Fisheries Commission is scheduled to meet November 20-22, 2024 at the Islander Hotel and Resort in Emerald Isle, North Carolina.

The Division of Air Quality's Outside Involvement Committee is a stakeholder group that includes DAQ staff, the regulated community, environmental groups and the public. The group meets quarterly to provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of DAQ staff and management on a wide range of air quality issues and processes. Staff will also provide updates on key changes or issues affecting the division.

The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission will meet Nov. 13-14 in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building in Raleigh. Members of the public may attend in-person or join the meeting by computer or phone.

The Finfish Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on October 23, 2024.
