NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE AN AMENDED CONSENT ORDER

Public notice of intent to issue an amended State Consent Order to the following:

The Town of Mount Olive (PO Box 939, Mount Olive, NC 28365) has requested an amended Special Order by Consent EMC SOC WQ S20-002 Ad. I for its Mount Olive WWTP, a 2.0 MGD WWTP that discharges treated wastewater to Northeast Cape Fear River in the Cape Fear River Basin under the authority of NPDES Permit
February 6, 2025, 6pm - 9pm
The Environmental Management Commission (EMC) is accepting public comment on proposed rule changes that would codify discharge requirements for certain existing wastewater treatment plants in the Tar-Pamlico River Basin in the rules. The rules are part of a strategy designed to manage the inputs of nutrients into the basin that can cause fish kills, harmful algal blooms and other water quality impacts.

The Division of Air Quality's Outside Involvement Committee is a stakeholder group that includes DAQ staff, the regulated community, environmental groups and the public. The group meets quarterly to provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of DAQ staff and management on a wide range of air quality issues and processes. Staff will also provide updates on key changes or issues affecting the division.
