P U B L I C N O T I C E STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION 1617 MAIL SERVICE CENTER RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27699-1617 NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE AN AMENDED CONSENT ORDER Public notice of intent to issue an amendment to a State Consent Order to the following: The Town of Maysville (P.O. Box 265, Maysville, NC 28555-0265) has requested an amended Special Order by Consent No. S22-002 Ad. I for its Maysville WWTP, a 180,000 GPD wastewater treatment facility under the authority of discharge permit NC0021482 but is unable to consistently comply with permit conditions and effluent limits for flow, Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Residual Chlorine, and Dissolved Oxygen. The Maysville WWTP discharges treated wastewater to White Oak River in the White Oak River Basin. The Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue the amended Order per Article 21 of Chapter 143, N.C. General Statutes, and other regulations effective May 26, 2025. Compliance with this amended Order will require the Town to prepare plans and specifications for construction and operation of additional treatment works, as well as an evaluation of their collection system to reduce infiltration and inflow to attain compliance with final effluent limits in Permit NC0021482. The Town of Maysville shall comply with the NPDES permit limits with the exception of the interim effluent limits identified in the Order. This amended Order will expire on September 1, 2027. Comments on the proposed amended Order received no later than 30 days after the publish date of this notice will be considered in the final determination.
