CANCELED: Public Hearing on Duke Energy's Weatherspoon Plant Draft Wastewater & Stormwater Permits

Due to ongoing disaster recovery efforts in Robeson County, the Oct. 25 public hearing for the Weatherspoon facility water quality permits has been canceled. When a new hearing date and venue is determined, a public notice will issued and the hearing information will be desiminated through news releases and the DEQ website.

WASTEWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT #NC0005363 AND NPDES STORMWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT #NCS000589

PUBLIC HEARING 

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing to accept comments on the draft permits at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Robeson Community College A.D. Lewis Auditorium, 5160 Fayetteville Rd., Lumberton, N.C. Speaker registration begins at 5 p.m.

PERMIT APPLICATION
Duke Energy Progress, Inc. has applied for National Pollution discharge Elimination permits for the W.H. Weatherspoon Plant, 491 Power Plant Rd., Lumberton, N.C., in Robeson County. The facility discharges wastewater and stormwater to the Lumber River and Jacob Swamp in the Lumber River basin.
