The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host a public hearing in Bolivia on December 5 to accept comments on a modification to Brunswick County’s wastewater permit for its Northwest Water Treatment Plant.
Brunswick County has applied for the modification to discharge treated wastewater to Hood Creek and reverse osmosis wastewater into the Cape Fear River. The Northwest Water Treatment Plant is located at 3954 Clearwell Drive Northeast in Leland.

All comments presented at the public hearing will be considered in DEQ’s final determination regarding permit issuance and permit provisions. Written comments on the draft permit should be mailed to: Wastewater Permitting, Attn: Brianna Young, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC, 27699-1617. Comments may also be submitted by email to: brianna.young@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “Northwest Water Treatment Plant” in the email’s subject line. The comment period ends on December 5.
