DEQ’s staff includes many scientists, engineers and others who are devoted to learning more about our environment by collecting and evaluating hundreds of different types of data; conducting field research; analyzing water, air and soil samples; using GIS mapping techniques; and many other methods of scientific exploration.

This mountain of research helps us know how well we’re doing in our ongoing mission to protect North Carolina’s environment.
