Clean Heavy-Duty Equipment and Vehicle Program

DAQ announced the grant awardees on Nov. 9, 2022. The 11 funded clean heavy-duty equipment and vehicle replacement projects included 43 on-road and off-road diesel vehicles, including bucket trucks, refuse haulers, dump trucks, box trucks, front loaders, semi-trucks, freight trucks and freight switchers and all together will reduce more than 113 tons of NOx emissions over their lifetimes.

In Phase 2 of the program, $12.9 million in Volkswagen funds were allocated to the Clean Heavy-Duty Equipment and Vehicle Program to assist interested parties to mitigate NOx emissions by replacing older diesel transit and shuttle buses.

Eligibility

Phase 2 funding focused on public sector needs.  Eligible projects were submitted by:

  • Local, state and tribal government organizations,
  • Public or private nonprofit organizations, and
  • Public/private partnerships where the lead applicant represents a public sector or a public or private non-profit.
