Take-Back Programs

Manufacturer Take-Back and Recycling Programs

By North Carolina Law, all computer equipment manufacturers, including makers of desktops, laptops, computer monitors, printers, and scanners must offer a no-cost recycling program to North Carolina households. In addition to local government electronics recycling services, manufacturer programs are a good option for households with electronics discards.

  • The N.C. Division of Waste Management maintains a list of electronics manufacturers with websites and phone numbers to inquire about take-back or recycling services they provide.
  • The EPA provides a list of manufacturer recycling programs that are associated with the Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge.
