Take-Back Programs
Manufacturer and Retail Take-Back and Recycling Programs
By North Carolina Law, all computer equipment manufacturers, including makers of desktops, laptops, computer monitors, printers, and scanners must offer a no-cost recycling program to North Carolina households. The N.C. Division of Waste Management maintains a list of computer equipment manufacturers with websites and phone numbers to inquire about take-back or recycling services they provide.
Additionally, many retailers such as Apple, Best Buy, Staples, and Office Depot offer take-back programs. A list of retailer electronic equipment drop-off locations is provided on the N.C. Division of Waste Management Consumer Information page.
