Energy
One of the most significant costs associated with tourism is energy. Lighting, heating, cooling and fuel are key components of lodging facilities and modes of travel. It makes sense that conserving energy will bring a fairly quick payback. Designing and building energy efficient buildings and vehicles will pay off in the long run. Even older, existing buildings can reap the benefits of going green. Switching to energy efficient lighting and upgrading to modern HVAC systems will save energy costs. Also consider donating to local renewable energy and carbon offset projects to support economic growth and to promote clean energy.
