Certification Rules and Regulations

 

The purpose of these Rules is to set out Certification criteria for laboratory facilities performing any tests, analyses, measurements, or monitoring required under G.S. 143 Article 21 or any rules adopted thereunder, and to establish fees for Certification program support.

These Rules apply to laboratory facilities which perform and report tests, analyses, measurements or monitoring for persons subject to G.S. 143-215.1 and 143-215.63, et seq. For example, Environmental Management Commission Rules for Surface Water Monitoring and Reporting found in Subchapter 2B of this Chapter, Section .0500 (Only facilities classified in accordance with Classification of Water Pollution Control Systems Rules found in 15A NCAC 08G .0300 are subject to these Rules.); Groundwater Rules found in 15A NCAC 02L .0100, .0200, and .0300; Waste Not Discharged to Surface Waters Rules found in 15A NCAC 02H .0200; Point Source Discharges to the Surface Waters Rules found in 15A NCAC 02H .0100. These Rules also apply to all wastewater treatment plant laboratories for municipalities having Local Pretreatment Programs as regulated in 15A NCAC 02H .0900. Laboratory facilities performing and reporting analyses for field parameters only, shall be considered for certification as specified in 15A NCAC 2H .0805(g) .

These Rules do not apply to facilities which are not classified in accordance with Classification of Water Pollution Control Systems Rules found in 15A NCAC 08G .0300 and biological toxicity testing in accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .1100.
