On October 24, 2023, Governor Cooper's Executive Order 292, Advancing Environmental Justice for North Carolina, elevated the Secretary's EJ and Equity Advisory Board to the Governor's Environmental Justice Advisory Council. (Press Release)

With that simple acknowledgment, together we will protect our natural resources, our economic interests, and our communities so that ALL North Carolinians will have clean air and clean water for today, tomorrow and future generations to come."
